CBD Energy subsidiary eco-Kinetics has won a two-year contract with Queensland electricity utility Ergon Energy to supply on- and off-grid photovoltaic systems for solar energy generation.
"This is the first major contract for eco-Kinetics' newly established wholesale division, which was launched in August 2009, and follows another significant contract from the successful tender of the $20 million Shapparton SGVS contract in December 2009," CBD said in a statement on Tuesday.
Eco-Kinetics managing director Edwin Cywinski said the Ergon contract and other sales meant the company was becoming a major supplier of solar equipment in Australia.
"It is pleasing for a Queensland business like ours to help make solar energy more widely used in the Sunshine state, especially in partnership with the state's main utility," he said.
The two new contracts provide a solid platform for profitability of the eco-Kinetics business over the next two years, CBD said.
Shares in CBD Energy were up half a cent, or 4.76 per cent, at 11 cents at 1310 AEDT on Tuesday.
